Profile:
Front end web developer with 11 years experience building HTML and CSS for Content Management Systems and non-CMS projects for small to large companies. I have 8 years experience working to W3C and WAI guidelines and I have a good number of WAI AAA web sites to show my skills. My work experience shows that I don’t switch jobs regularly and I’m looking for my next big challenge.
Expertise:
- (X)HTML (11 Years)
- CSS (8 years)
- W3C, WAI compliant sites (8 years)
- XHTML Strict designs (8 years)
- Pure CSS based designs (9 years)
- Working with and designing for CMS (3 years)
- Image to pure CSS templates (9 years)
- Cross browser compatibility knowledge (11 years)
- Creating Wireframes or mock-ups using Photoshop (8 years)
Achievements:
- Successfully created the XHTML and CSS templates for the entire npower website. My templates had to be pixel perfect as well as fitting within a number of confines with regards to the CMS npower uses. npower has a large web team and they picked me for the work which I found very satisfying.
- Created a number of web sites for multi million euro funded projects and each project had up to 100 people involved in the decision making process which required clear explanations for each site so they could all agree with the designs and structures I had created.
- Creating websites that can be viewed by as many browsers as possible without resulting to lots of hacks to try and make it all fit.
- I have always had a job and I’ve never been unemployed. Every job I’ve had has been long term which shows my commitment to each employer.
Most recent experience:
npower – John Huntington - Worcester, Worcestershire
Senior front end developer January 07 to April 08
- Contract role tasked with creating pixel perfect, pure CSS based designs for the whole of npower and many of the landing pages shown in the national press. These designs also needed to be easily integrated into the Oracle Stellent CMS system. This contract was initially for 3 months but lasted until I left over a year later.
Quadrate Digital Media Ltd – Damian Cooper-Smith, Exeter
Front end developer November 05 to January 07
- I was the lead accessibility developer in charge of all accessibility issues relating to web development. I led a small team dealing with developing web sites for multi million Euro projects funded under European Commission FP6 programme. I worked closely with the database designer to make sure he could use the designs I created. Another part of the role in the company was to be the face behind them. This involved travelling around Europe giving presentations to the project members on the work we have carried out. The people at these meetings are often the World leading experts in their fields.
